Arrive in Munich, Airport transfer to hotel, Grand Entry Parade

Your Munich arrival is easy, and you'll quickly understand why Munich is such an beloved international destination. The Bavarians are welcoming, helpful and friendly and Munich is super-easy to navigate - you'll instantly feel at home.

Your tour package will include an easy to use map, and a pre-paid voucher for the Airport Shuttle bus. This frequent and quick shuttle picks up just outside baggage claim, and it is a short ride to the very center of Munich, just two blocks from your hotel.

Your hotel is ideally situated within easy walking distance of the Oktoberfest grounds, the main train station, the city center, and subway transportation which offers easy access to all other area attractions. We've been using this same property for 15 years, and our tours always enjoy their stay.

Today, be sure to catch the Grand Entry Parade featuring horse drawn carriages, traditionally decorated floats and all the Oktoberfest bands right outside your front door! Or, why not head to the Oktoberfest grounds for your first taste of the festival?

Use your included map and restaurant guide to head to beer halls for a taste of authentic German culture (with English menus), or explore the pedestrian-only old-town area of Munich, a short walk away.

Sunday, September 17 ~
Hop-On / Hop-Off Munich City Tour, Costume & Rifleman Parade & Free day

Enjoy a completely free day in the wonderful city of Munich!

You will have passes for the excellent Hop-On / Hop-Off city tour of Munich. You can set your own schedule as the passes are valid all day on Sunday and there is a stop just steps from the hotel. This tour is the perfect way to get to know Munich.

If you like parades, this afternoon is the famed Trachten-und Schützenumzug Parade (Costume and Rifleman Parade) which is 8,000 participants strong and passes right by our hotel.

You may also want to head to the Oktoberfest grounds or visit the many world class museums, beer halls and restaurants. One can take a bike tour of Munich, a brewery tour, or spend time at a beer house (The Hofbräuhaus is always extremely popular with our travelers). For car enthusiasts, don’t miss a chance to visit the BMW Museum where you’ll not only learn about the car’s history, you’ll also get up close and personal with their entire line of cars and motorcycles!

Monday, September 18 ~
Oktoberfest Grounds Tour & Oktoberfest Tent Reservations

Each year Oktoberfest is attended by more than 6 million visitors who drink nearly 7 million liters of beer and today one of them will be you! Our local guide will escort you to the festival for a day of oompah bands, giant pretzels and other Bavarian treats, German heritage, and non-stop fun. We'll have a private tour of the grounds which will include a brief history of the festival and an insider's view of what this great event is all about. Later, you'll experience Oktoberfest as the locals do, with reserved seats in one of the famous beer tents. Each "tent" has its own unique character - from the relatively intimate 3,400-seat Hippodrom to the 9,300-seat Schottenhamel.

Munich has so much to offer, and we often are asked “what else is there to do besides the Oktoberfest?” Shoot us an email for some wonderful suggestions tailored to your interests!

About your hotel:

We pick the hotels we use on our tours very carefully and have long standing relationships with all of of our Munich vendors .

We are primarily concerned about safety, cleanliness, location, price and function.

Our Affordable Oktoberfest hotel has modern amenities (elevator, nice en-suite bathrooms, hairdryers, LCD televisions, mini-bars) and a great breakfast. It is a favorite amongst travelers looking for a nice place to stay in a good location, that doesn't break the bank.

We've been using our Affordable Oktoberfest hotel for 10+ years, and know the owners and employees very well.

We don't list the name here, because there are many "fly by night" Oktoberfest tour providers, and we prefer to keep hold of some "trade-secrets." We've been running our Oktoberfest trips for 15+ years, and have seen many rip-offs come and go. Just give us a call and we'll tell you all about our Munich hotels.

Optional Day Trips

Optional tours must be booked in advance

Munich Castle Day Trip - $79 per person
Voted the Eighth Wonder of the Modern World ~ Towering far above the village of Füssen is the fabulous and ethereal Neuschwanstein Castle.

The castle was built in the 19th century by the famed “mad” King Ludwig II and is the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Your guide will escort you via train from Munich and will accompany you uphill to the castle’s lofty perch, where it sits above a spectacular panorama of mountains, lakes, and valleys. This tour provides the best vantage points and views: the lake, the postcard-perfect view of beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle, the waterfall gorge, and stunning views from the Marienbrücke bridge, suspended high above everything.

Please note this tour does involve an uphill walk lasting approximately 20 minutes.

Spend a day in Austria - A day trip to one of the jewels in the crown of Europe

A city so special it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Salzburg is famed for its old world glamour, made all the more striking by the majestic backdrop of the snow-capped Alps. It was also the home town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Salzburg is one of the finest preserved medieval “old towns” in Europe, criss-crossed with romantic winding shopping streets, wonderful markets, and adorned with outstanding architectural monuments of the later Baroque era. As you probably also know, it is also where the beloved movie The Sound of Music was filmed!

Your expert guide will accompany you via train from Munich and will put their knowledge of the city and what is best to see and do at your service.
